Stock Market Closing Update



Sensex rallies 401 points on firm global cues, government data; Yes Bank gains over 11%
Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty gained over 1.5 per cent on Friday on account of buying in frontline blue chip stocks amid firm global cues.
Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty gained over 1.5 per cent on Friday on account of buying in frontline blue chip stocks amid firm global cues. Sentiments improved further after a government report showed that India’s fiscal deficit stood at Rs 4.88 lakh crore during April-December, or 87.9 percent of the full-year target, indicating a improvement in its finances. The deficit was 100.2 percent of the full-year target during the same period a year ago.
Sensex closed 401.12 points up at 24870.69, while Nifty settled 138.90 points up at 7,563.
Wendt (India) has entered into agreement with Star Diamond Tools (Star) for acquisition of their Diamond Dresser Tool business on slump sale basis. The value of the transaction envisaged is approximately Rs 300 lakh and the conclusion of the transaction is subject to fulfillment of certain conditions in due course. Shares of Wendt were trading 1.09 per cent up at Rs 1805. Sensex was up 396 points at 24,866.

Market Closing Update By Capitalheight @ Sensex, Nifty consolidate;

Sensex, Nifty consolidate; Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's plunge 3% Reliance Industries cut losses to 0.7 percent from 3.5 percent. Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki plunged 3 percent each followed by ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs, HUL and Sun Pharma.

The Sensex declined 64.05 points to 23997.99 and the Nifty fell 21 points to 7288.30. About 1306 shares have advanced, 1236 shares declined, and 180 shares are unchanged on the BSE.
 Automotive battery manufacturer Exide Industries' third quarter profit shot up 37.9 percent year-on-year to Rs 134 crore on strong operational performance but sequentially it fell 14 percent. Revenue declined 2.1 percent to Rs 1,524.7 crore in quarter ended December 2015 compared to Rs 1,557.5 crore in year-ago period and also slipped 12.3 percent compared to preceding quarter.

Market Outlook:-

The market has once again opened lower on Wednesday. The Sensex is down 265.75 points or 1 percent at 24214.09 and the Nifty is down 85 points or 1.1 percent at 7350.10. About 132 shares have advanced, 526 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged.
         The market slips away in early trade. The Sensex is down 349.51 points or 1.4 percent at 24130.33, and the Nifty is down 98.65 points or 1.3 percent at 7336.45. About 126 shares have advanced, 870 shares declined, and 41 shares are unchanged.
           The Sensex is down 418.68 points or 1.7 percent at 24061.16, and the Nifty down 133.50 points or 1.8 percent at 7301.60.
             At 9:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 360.09 points or 1.47% at 24,119.75.                        
     The Nifty 50 index was off 112.30 points or 1.51% at 7,322.80.
          There were more than more than six losers against every gainer on BSE. On BSE, 1,181 shares gained and 177 shares fell. A total of 43 shares were unchanged. The BSE Mid-Cap index was currently off 1.71%. The BSE Small-Cap index was currently off 1.8%. The fall in both these indices was higher than the Sensex's decline in percentage terms.
Axis Bank fell 2.49%
Cement stocks declined
UltraTech Cement slipped 0.86%
Grasim Industries was off 0.69% at Rs 3,486.80
Reliance Industries (RIL) dropped 2.38%.

Market Trend
         The market extended previous day's rally further in early trade Wednesday. The Sensex surged 225.78 points or 0.88 percent to 26004.44 and the Nifty climbed 71.35 points or 0.91 percent to 7914.65. Tata Steel, Vedanta, TCS, Hindalco Industries, SBI, HDFC and IndusInd Bank rallied 1.5-2.5 percent. 
          The Indian rupee gained 9 paise in early trade today. It has opened at 65.87 per dollar against previous close of 65.96. Pramit Brahmbhatt of Veracity feels reduction in FII inflows coupled with profit booking in local equities may pressure the rupee to trade weak. He sees range for today between 65.40-66.40/dollar.
  • Indian mkts ended upside. Nifty and Sensex up by 0.61% and 0.63%
  • Asia Pacific market mixed. Jakarta up by 1.39% & Nikkei down by 4.22%.
  • Wall St. dwn. USD Core Retail Sales down to 0.1%. Dow future down by 187 pts.
          Indian indices remained volatile and closed on positive note as RBI lowered the repo rate by 50 basis points to 6.75 percent, while kept CRR and SLR unchanged at 4 percent and 21.5 percent, respectively. Sensex was up by 161 points at 25778 & Nifty up by 47 points to settle at 7843 level. European markets traded mixed.

After a stellar rally, the market ended on a high note. The Sensex was up 380.36 points or 1.4 percent at 27887.90 and the Nifty closed up 111.45 points or 1.4 percent at 8395.45.About of volatility was witnessed as key benchmark indices trimmed gains after extending gains in mid-afternoon trade. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, and the 50-unit CNX Nifty, both, hit their highest level in more than three weeks. 

The Sensex was currently up 397.99 points or 1.45% at 27,905.53. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was strong. The CNX Nifty was up 117.75 points or 1.42% at 8,401.75. The index hit a high of 8,410.60 in intraday trade, its highest level since 9 December 2014. The index hit a low of 8,288.70 in intraday trade.
