The market ended on higher note. The Sensex closed up 153.95 points or 0.6
percent at 27395.73, and the Nifty was up 45.60 points at 8246.30. About 1616
shares have advanced, 1312 shares declined, and 117 shares are unchanged. Key
benchmark indices logged gains on first trading day of the week buoyed by
positive Asian stocks. However, indices were off intraday highs. The barometer
index, the S&P BSE Sensex was provisionally up 148.07 points or 0.54% at
27,389.85.
The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was positive. The index rose 24.71 points at the
day's low of 27,266.49 in early trade. The CNX Nifty was up 45.60 points or
0.56% at 8,246.30. The index hit a high of 8,279.15 in intraday trade, its
highest level since 24 December 2014. The index hit a low of 8,214.70 in
intraday trade.
