After a choppy session, the market ended on lower levels.
The Sensex was down 155.11 points or 0.6 percent at 27735.02 and the Nifty
slipped 31.40 points or 0.4 percent at 8398.30. About 1370 shares have
advanced, 1442 shares declined, and 155 shares are unchanged.Key benchmark
indices edged lower after seeing intraday volatility. The barometer index, the
S&P BSE Sensex, failed to retain the psychological 28,000 mark after moving
past that level after registering decent gains earlier during the trading
session. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market once
again turned negative from positive in late trade.
The losses for Sensex were higher than the losses for the
50-unit CNX Nifty in percentage terms. The Sensex was provisionally off 188.69
points or 0.68% at 27,701.44. The Nifty was provisionally off 31.40 points or
0.37% at 8,398.30. The 50-unit CNX Nifty was down 31.40 points or 0.37% at
8,398.30, as per provisional closing. The index hit a low of 8,361.85 in
intraday trade. The index hit a high of 8,504.95 in intraday trade, its highest
level since 20 April 2015.
