The market ended a volatile trading session with some massive gains. The
Sensex ended at 329.95 points or 1.2 percent at 27701.79, and the Nifty was up
98.80 points or 1.2 percent at 8324.00. About 1562 shares have advanced, 1348
shares declined, and 118 shares were unchanged. After moving in an extremely
narrow range, key benchmark indices extended gains in mid-afternoon trade.
The 50-unit CNX Nifty hit hits highest level in more than a week. Earlier,
the barometer index had hit its highest level in more than a week at the onset
of the trading session. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the
market was positive. The index jumped 137.75 points at the day's high of
27,509.59 at the onset of the trading session, its highest level since 12
December 2014. The index gained 10.48 points at the day's low of 27,382.32 in
early afternoon trade. The CNX Nifty was up 33.75 points or 0.41% at 8,258.95.
