The Nifty has hit record high at 8000
just minutes after opening at an all time high. The 50-share index is up 50.15
points at 8004.50. The Sensex is up 169.79 points at 26807.90. About 824 shares
have advanced, 188 shares declined, and 45 shares are unchanged.
Key benchmark indices surged in early trade after the latest data showed Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew to two-and-half years high of 5.7% in Q1 June 2014. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex scaled record high. The 50-unit CNX Nifty scaled record high above 8,000 mark. The Sensex was currently up 181.20 points or 0.68% at 26,819.31. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was strongThe index gained 182.25 points at the day's high of 26,820.36 in early trade, a record high for the index. The index rose 94.28 points at the day's low of 26,732.39 in early trade.
